Women in business: What to wear to work in the winter

Office & Workplace

As a woman in the workplace, having to choose between warmth and fashionable workwear is often a tricky one when it comes to the colder weather. Your pumps are calling you, but losing a foot to frostbite isn't. Pants might seem perfect but soggy, damp hems aren't exactly preferred. You might have to go from a warm home to an overheated commute carriage, then to the cold city streets, all before you even arrive at the office.

We asked our Glandore Members for some of their go-to tips on what to wear to work in the winter.

1. Reuse That Summer LWD

Just because the seasons have changed, doesn't mean you need to chuck out your summer wardrobe to make space for a new one. Why not layer up and try a turtleneck underneath that lace, summery dress - paired with some winter warming tights.

2. Pants Without the Pumps

Wearing pants often makes us feel like we need to pair them with a pair of pumps or heels. However, if the idea of a bare foot fills you with shivers, wearing ever-so-slightly flared or cropped pants allows for the perfect alternative to having to tuck those tailored trousers into boots.

3. Back Away From Black

It's easy to hit up the go-to basic black during winter, especially as the days get darker. Why not try mixing some of your black staples with navys, greys, burgundys and berrys? It's a nice way of adding a bit of colour, not only to your outfit, but to your complexion too!

4. Cowl Neck Comforts

Sometimes scarves can be distracting when working at your desk and it's often too warm to wear one indoors. If you love the comfort (and warmth!) of having a scarf around your neck, a cowl neck sweater offers a cosy, fashionable alternative.

5. Shirt 'n' Sweater Weather

Mixing and matching various V-neck and round-neck sweaters and shirts allows for a simple way to stay chic this winter. The combinations and the possibilities are endless, offering maximum effect from minimal effort!
