Armstrong Teasdale

Armstrong Teasdale, one of the top 200 law firms in the U.S., announces that it has opened an office in Dublin, Ireland, continuing its commitment to strategic growth. In the past three years, Armstrong Teasdale has expanded its geographic footprint significantly, hiring hundreds of lawyers and staff, and deepening its bench strength and opening eight additional offices around the globe. The firm has made substantial investments in its people and its growth strategy, which have realized record revenue growth and profitability for the last three consecutive years.

“Dublin is a key steppingstone in our European expansion plans. We now have important footholds in both the U.K. and E.U. markets in a post-Brexit environment, and are better-positioned to serve our clients in Europe and beyond.,” said Chairman David Braswell. “We look forward to the Dublin office serving as a catalyst for our ongoing global growth plans.”

The firm’s Dublin office will initially focus on building out its expertise in corporate and capital markets, intellectual property, employment and immigration support for clients operating in the region. The firm will also leverage this move to further expand its widely recognized sports law practice in Europe. Earlier this year, Armstrong Teasdale was named Sports Law Firm of the Year by Lawyer Monthly, and its sports practice boasts a roster of premier clients in the industry.

Managing Partner, Patrick Rasche, an intellectual property lawyer by trade, pointed to Dublin’s concentration of technology, financial services and life sciences companies as a significant draw to the Irish market. “We provide intellectual property services to some of the world’s most sophisticated companies – some of which now have a position in Dublin, but many of which have operations in the E.U. We are pleased to enter the Dublin market and will use this new capability to further our clients’ interests. We will now shift our focus to rapidly growing this office and expanding our service offering in Ireland.”

Daniel O’Connell, Partner and Leader – Europe, and Yvonne Costello, Partner, will be responsible for the firm’s ongoing expansion plans in the region. Both are native to the country. During O’Connell’s time as Managing Partner of Kerman & Co., a firm acquired by Armstrong Teasdale in February 2021, he was responsible for managing the firm’s Dublin office.

“Post-Brexit, it was absolutely essential that Armstrong Teasdale establish a concrete presence in Dublin,” said O’Connell. “Dublin clearly is a special place and continues to be a booming business market. Together with a clear client focus, we are committed to establishing a strong presence in Ireland through the addition of a highly talented team to broaden our capabilities.”

O’Connell will lead Armstrong Teasdale offices in London and Dublin. A skilled corporate lawyer and leader of the execution of strategic growth for the firm in Europe, O’Connell has more than 30 years’ experience in counselling clients throughout the U.K. and E.U. He has a substantial corporate practice, representing clients in matters across a diverse range of industries. Yvonne Costello is a well-recognized practitioner in corporate matters as well as mergers and acquisitions, having gained a wealth of experience working for a multinational professional services firm. Costello is a dual-qualified solicitor in England and Wales and Ireland and is an associate of the Irish Taxation Institute.

The firm’s Dublin office is located at Fitzwilliam Hall, Fitzwilliam Place, Dublin 2.
