Everything you need to know about coworking

Office & Culture

What is coworking?

Coworking is a catch-all term that covers a wide range of office space solutions available to businesses, usually required by companies who are in the early or growth phases of their business journey. That said, there has been a growth in the trend for larger companies too, particularly in facilitating away days from the office or travelling sales people who may need a desk in the city centre in between meetings.

While each business is unique there are certain needs that are universal, from internet connections to phone and postal services, all the way to water rates and security systems. Some of these costs may seem off-putting to a smaller business but co-working allows you the flexibility to take full advantage of a wider range of resources without compromising on your business.

Glandore offer a variety of coworking options allowing your business the space to grow at your own pace, all of which are part of our fully serviced office spaces.  We’ve put together a quick guide to each to help you with deciding which coworking option is the best one for your business.

What is a coworking day pass?

Coworking is an excellent option for those days where you need an office base but aren’t necessarily ready to take on a space for more than a few days a month. You’ll find that all of the daily amenities offered by Glandore are available to you, including access to our exclusive member talks and events.

What is a virtual office?

A virtual office gives you all the flexibility of being part of the Glandore members network without compromising on your ability to work from anywhere in the world.

As part of the Glandore network you will have access to exclusive member events, can avail of our phone and mail services, and enjoy preferential meeting room and restaurant rates in Dublin, Cork and Belfast.

For the occasions that you need or want to work from an office you can add on a coworking day pass, if you find that you are spending more and more time in one of our physical locations you are perfectly positioned to transition to hot desking or even a dedicated desk.

What is hot-desking?

Hot-desking is ideal for companies in early stages of their business, if you don’t need a dedicated space and enjoy the variety that coworking brings then hot-desking is the perfect solution for your business. Hot-desk memberships offer work-day access and would be ideal for those who may not need a desk all day every day but might be in-and-out throughout the day. You will have access to the full range of Glandore services, from high speed internet and mail/phone services, to preferential meeting room and restaurant rates along with the flexibility of a coworking space.

What is a dedicated desk?

A dedicated desk is ideal for those who aren’t ready to take on a full-scale office but have moved beyond the scope of hot-desking and need more from their working environment. In addition to the benefits of a shared space you can be guaranteed that your desk is reserved for your use alone. You can also avail of your own lockable pedestal, ergonomic chair and access to lockers. A dedicated desk offers 24/7 access, which would be ideal for anyone who wants the flexibility of working early/late or on weekends.

What is a shared office?

A shared office can be made up of people hot-desking, working on day passes or using a dedicated desk. These offices are a communal hive of activity and excellent centres for creativity to thrive. If your business is in its early stages and you want to be around other companies at a similar point in their journey then a shared space might be the perfect option for you.

What is a private office?

A private office at any of our Glandore properties is a fully serviced offering with all of the great benefits that come with being part of our member network. All of the things you’d expect in a fully furnished office are included, from desks, chairs, filing cabinets and printers to air conditioning and building security. You will also have access to kitchens, Nespresso machines, cleaning, IT and admin services. We also offer preferential meeting room and restaurant rates to both our Dublin and Belfast members. While you have your own private office space you can also enjoy the benefits of sharing a building with lots of innovative and exciting companies.

Whether you are interested in co-working, looking for your first private office, setting up a new office in one of our DublinCork or Belfastproperties or expanding your team and are in need of extra space, we can work with you to find the best solution for your business.
