Activities in Dublin to help you unwind over Christmas

Dublin

Christmas is the perfect opportunity to relax and recharge your batteries ready to start again in the New Year.

Having time away from work is a great way to improve your productivity and maintain a healthy personal and professional life. Studies have shown that performance improves following time away from the office.

Here at Glandore we understand the importance of maintaining a healthy body and mind. To help you unwind over the break we’ve put together our top three picks of festive activities in Dublin.

Pantomime

Going along to a pantomime before Christmas is one of the most quintessentially festive things you can do. But, many of us forget that pantomimes also run far after Christmas and into January.

Dublin is always full of different pantomime options perfect for any and all tastes. The most well-known is the Gaiety Christmas Panto and this years rendition of Rapunzel has been met with rave reviews. Other options include Polly & The Beanstalk in the Olympia Theatre, Sleeping Beauty in the Tivoli and Beauty & The Beast in the Helix.

These are perfect activities for children of all ages and adults too! Taking the time out to shout “he’s behind you” can be a perfect way to unwind and relax over the festive season.

Ice-skating

What better way to unwind over Christmas then to try ice-skating. This is another typical Christmas activity but one that can be enjoyed by everyone. It is the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill or just test out your balance.

Rinks pop up around the city only at Christmas. Dundrum on Ice is one of the most popular destinations and will stay open until 14 January. Ice skating Blanchardstown is located next to Blanchardstown shopping centre, their 1,000 square metre ice rink is the perfect place to have some fun after a busy day of shopping.

Most ice rinks cater for groups and have smaller rinks perfect for children finding their skating feet. This makes ice-skating the perfect family festive activity or one perfect for group of friends to enjoy.

Get out of the city

During the festive season the city is a buzz with activity. Christmas shopping and end of year sales mean the city streets are usually packed with bargain hunters.

A packed city can sometimes be overwhelming. The Christmas season is a perfect opportunity to get away from it all and take some time to decompress. One way we like to do this is by getting out the city.

Dublin is surrounded by beautiful countryside, mountains, beaches and smaller towns that can provide a welcome escape. Why not go for a long walk in the Ticknock mountains that overlook the city, or venture out to the coast and walk from Bray to Greystones. A simple day trip away can be beneficial for clearing your mind and getting you ready for 2018.
