The festive season has officially arrived here in Belfast and with December being such a magical time of year there are plenty of things to do in the city. Our Glandore team in Belfast have complied a list of the best things to do in the city over the festive season.

Belfast Christmas Market

Whether you prefer to sip on mulled wine while strolling around the markets or you want to take the kids to see Santa and grab a bite to eat, let Belfast’s sparkly lights guide you on your Christmas adventures. Belfast’s amazing Christmas Market returns to Belfast City Hall from 17 until 22 December 2018 and is open daily.

Monday – Wednesday: 10am – 8pm, Thursday – Saturday: 10am – 10pm, Sunday: 12pm – 6pm.

Browse some gorgeous handmade gifts and enjoy some of tasty festive treats including Belgian chocolates, crepes, waffles, and buttery Irish fudge. Or if a delicious meal is what you fancy gather the family and relax in the outdoor food court and check out Lavery’s traditional Irish Bar where you can hear some great live music.

If you’re looking for that perfect view Belfast city, why not check out the Observation Wheel at the Cathedral Gardens and why not get out and enjoy the free entertainment on Royal Avenue afterwards.

Movie House Cinemas are hosting a family friendly movie series throughout December and promises to be a wonderful festive experience.

The Tumble Circus Troop

The wacky folks down at Tumble Circus are back again following their run of sold out shows with the all human Winter Circus taking place between December 14th 2018 & January 01st 2019 at Writers Square in Belfast. Gather the family and enjoy a variety of highly skilled acts over the festive period including acrobatics, comedy characters, aerialists and jugglers. Don’t worry about feeling cold as the circus provides a fully heated Tumble Circus big top tent, so all you have to do is relax and enjoy the show.

Christmas at Hillsborough Castle

Christmas at the Castle promises to be a unique, festive experience and is running everyday until 23 December from 9.30am to 4.00pm. This experience offers some delicious seasonal treats and beverages, Christmas carollers, live music and family workshops and is in the beautiful surroundings of Hillsborough Castle & Gardens. It promises to be an amazing event set in cosy candlelight and is an experience not to be missed.

The Belfast Pantomime – Jack and the Beanstalk

The Belfast pantomime is Northern Ireland’s biggest and most spectacular family pantomime and takes place in the Grand Opera House each year with the Festive shows having entertained generations of families. It never disappoints and is the perfect opportunity to get the family together and have some Christmas fun either before or after the festivities.

Jack and the Beanstalk is packed with a first class cast and a spectacular orchestra and like all pantomimes it includes plenty of laugh-out-loud comedy and lots of fun interactions with the audience.
