What are you looking forward to most at IT@Cork Tech Fest 2021?

There is a fantastic lineup of speakers and breakout sessions planned for Tech Fest 2021, so it’s hard to pick just one! I’m particularly looking forward to hearing the Inspire track Keynote speaker, Caroline Dowling, the Glandore hosted breakout session “Workspace Connectivity – Future Trends & Innovation” We have three extremely influential panellists lined up, its sure to be an informative and engaging session. I’m also really looking forward to hosting the Glandore virtual booth, getting to network and chat with fellow members and attendees.

How do you think the festival can help businesses in Cork?

IT@Cork’s annual Tech Conference will give attendees the unique opportunity to hear from and access legends, luminaries and thought leaders on everything tech and future forward. The line-up includes speakers from around the globe, interactive panel discussions, technical workshops, one-to-one networking opportunities and an exhibition area.  This is a superb three day event of keynotes, panels and workshops for attendees to choose from. There really is something of interest for everyone!

How can the workshops and one to ones help attendees?

The workshops and breakout sessions will be a more intimate setting, providing attendees with key insights into specific areas of interest, from the Glandore hosted panel discussion on Workspace Connectivity – Future Trends & Innovation and Transforming Cybersecurity Skill to How IT Leaders Can Make Diversity, Equity and Inclusion the Engine of Anti Fragile Teams. The different tracks and topics will allow for teams to breakout into separate areas and focus on specific subjects of interest. Each workshop will afford attendees the opportunity to engage with experts in their individual fields while also allowing them to interact with the attendees and speakers.

Innovate, Transform and Inspire are the words used to describe this year’s Tech Fest. Do these values resonate with you? (How)

I doubt there is a single person within the workforce or even in their personal lives who have not lived these values particularly over the past 14 months. These values are so topical and key to the success of every business, regardless of whether it was planned or not, nearly every single organisation has been forced to examine these three areas in recent times; innovate (look at new ways of doing business remotely and in a virtual environment), transform (re-evaluate and in some cases pivot the business to meet customer needs) and inspire (reassure, motivate and engage their teams). Innovation is often seen as somewhat of an ambiguous buzz word associated with major change or new products and solutions. However, innovation at its most basic form is doing things differently and more effectively than you have previously. As a team member, you want to work for an organisation that ensures these values are lived on a daily basis and are positioned as pillars of success from within.

How is partnering with IT@Cork Tech Fest important to Glandore?

Cork’s tech cluster has grown exponentially over the past number of years, that growth is showing no sign of slowing down, between the formation of indigenous companies and FDI companies looking to setup/land and expand in the city. IT@Cork are a fantastic professional network, driving thought leadership, collaboration and global strategic alliances. Although Glandore are not a tech specific company we do work within the tech periphery, in so far as many of our members are in the tech industry and so IT@Cork have proven to be an invaluable resource for us to keep up to date with current and emerging trends, thus allowing us a high level of understanding of member needs and inevitably to better service our members.
