Planning Ahead—CSR events in Belfast to add to your calendar

Glandore Members & Partners

Corporate Social Responsibility, or CSR, is an important fundamental which seems to be ingrained in the majority of modern corporations’ business model. It is normally self regulated whereby a business actively monitors its compliance with the spirit of the law and domestic/international standards.

CSR is often voluntarily promoted within every business or corporation, but sometimes an organisation would like to take it a step further. They prefer to go beyond what they are required to do and get involved in activities and projects which contribute to the greater social good without any vested business interests attached. These can include charity fundraisers, community events, local projects and other social gatherings.

We here at Glandore take pride in our local communities. With offices in both Belfast and Dublin, we feel that it’s important to give back to our surrounding areas however we can. We pride ourselves in offering our clients a wide variety of corporate events, including some rewarding experiences in our upcoming CSR schedule. Here are some CSR events that are coming up in Belfast over the next few months.

1. Operation Lipstick with TinyLife—March 24

Time to dig out your old scouts uniform for this one. Operation Lipstick is an all-female challenge which tests participants survival skills known as “Lush Pucker Trials”.

Expect shelter building, fire lighting and such, all in the name of charity. Contestants will finish off the challenge with the annual Raft Race Challenge, so some wet gear might be an idea. All proceeds will go towards the Tiny Life, the only premature and vulnerable baby charity in Northern Ireland who raise vital funds each year to help reduce illnesses in premature babies born in Northern Ireland.

Entry is £10 and each participant must raise at least £100 each. Teams can consist of between four and six members.

2.  Belfast Marathon Team Relay—May 7

If you’re a prestigious runner, a marathon may seem like the optimal challenge for you. But, for the average jogger it can seem like torture! However, this year the Action Cancer charity organisation is giving potential competitors the opportunity to get involved without having to do a year’s worth of training.

Teams of between two and five people can compete in the Belfast Marathon Team Relay challenge in order to raise funds for Action Cancer. There are four different relay points throughout the entire marathon, each one varying in distance. This is a great opportunity for work colleagues interested in running.

You can enter your squad through their website here.

3. Europa Abseil 2018

As part of Northern Ireland Hospice’s fundraising strategy, they have released a number of dates for their abseiling challenge which invites daredevils from all walks of life to abseil down the front of the Europa Hotel in order to help raise vital funds for their services.

This is an amazing challenge for those who have never tried it before and is hosted over a series of days so you don’t have to worry about missing out!

Entrants must pay a £30 registration fee and the organisations kindly asks that those who sign up raise £100 in sponsorship money.

The abseil will be hosted on the following dates:

  • Sunday, February 25
