The Pursuit of Happiness

A really beautiful story about coming to terms with failure and unravelling into the most wonderful success story. A struggling salesman takes custody of his son as he’s poised to begin a life-changing professional career. This one is definitely a tear jerker but well worth watching if you haven’t already seen it. One of Will Smith’s finest performances.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

One of the greatest 80’s movies ever made! This comedy will bring you back to your childhood and capture those wicked senses! Matthew Broderick gives an outstanding performance in this epic movie as high school slacker Ferris Bueller. ‘One man’s struggle to take it easy!’

The Greatest Showman

If musicals are your thing, then you will absolutely adore this fine piece of production by Michael Gracey. This celebrates the birth of show business & tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. Beautiful cinematography captured in this essential musical must see.

The Irishman

For most of us, the thought of watching a 3hr 25 min movie in one sitting seems crazy, but now you have no excuse to either watch it in full or in parts over the weekend or evenings. Although, we do recommend taking breaks and walking around the house in between! An ageing hitman recalls his time with the mob and the intersecting events with his friend, Jimmy Hoffa, through the 1950-70s. Joe Pesci, perhaps best known for his roles in Goodfellas and Home Alone, came out of retirement to star in The Irishman. This is a true sign that this is one movie not to be missed!

The Goonies

A throwback to the mid 80’s with Steven Spielberg’s wonderful story of friendship, families, adventure and discovery will really give you that nostalgic feeling of your childhood days growing up in a neighbourhood with your eclectic mix of friends.

Mikey Walsh and Brandon Walsh are brothers whose family is preparing to move because developers want to build a golf course in the place of their neighbourhood – unless enough money is raised to stop the construction of the golf course, and that’s quite doubtful. But when Mikey stumbles upon a treasure map of the famed “One-Eyed” Willy’s hidden fortune, Mikey, Brandon, and their friends Lawrence “Chunk” Cohen, Clark “Mouth” Devereaux, Andrea “Andy” Carmichael, Stefanie “Stef” Steinbrenner, and Richard “Data” Wang, calling themselves The Goonies, set out on a quest to find the treasure in hopes of saving their neighbourhood.

Stand By Me

Based on Stephen King’s novel, ‘The Body’ masterpiece Stand by Me, by Rob Reiner has captured a huge audience over the years.

It’s the summer of 1959 in Castlerock, Oregon and four 12 year-old boys – Gordie, Chris, Teddy and Vern – are fast friends. After learning of the general location of the body of a local boy who has been missing for several days, they set off into woods to see it. Along the way, they learn about themselves, the meaning of friendship and the need to stand up for what is right. River Phoenix may have been classed as the star of this movie, but the talent within all of these young actors was astonishing

Cher, a high school student in Beverly Hills, must survive the ups and downs of adolescent life. Her external demeanour at first seems superficial, but rather it hides her wit, charm, and intelligence which help her to deal with relationships, friends, family, school, and the all-important teenage social life.

This mid 90’s classic comedy will have you clearing out your wardrobes and looking for your feather boas and corduroy mini skirts!

Little Miss Sunshine

This quirky little movie will put all your emotions to the test.

In Albuquerque, Sheryl Hoover brings her suicidal brother Frank to the breast of her dysfunctional and emotionally bankrupted family. When her seven-year-old daughter Olive has a chance to dispute the Little Miss Sunshine pageant in Redondo Beach, California, the whole family travels together in their old Volkswagen in a funny journey of hope of winning the talent contest. This movie is strange, hilarious, and full of heart-warming gestures from all  of its characters.

The Help

Set in Mississippi during the 1960s, a southern society girl who returns from college determined to become a writer, but turns her friends’ lives – and a Mississippi town – upside down when she decides to interview the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families. Friendships are forged and a new sisterhood emerges, but not before everyone in town has a thing or two to say themselves when they become caught up in the changing times.

This one will be sure to keep your little ones entertained for the evening!

Blu and Linda think he’s the last of his kind, but when they learn about another Macaw who lives in Rio de Janeiro, they head to the faraway and exotic land to find Jewel, Blu’s female counterpart.
