What to look for when you’re looking for a new office space

Office & Culture

According to Business Insider the average person spends one third of their life at work which means we spend a lot of time in an office environment.

An office is much more than physical space, it is about providing a supportive and functional space for its users. Our work environment can impact both our productivity as well as our health and well-being, which is why here at Glandore we understand that each company has different needs and expectations. In order to help you decide on a new space our team have created a list of things you should consider while you look for a new office.

Location

Finding a great location for your new office space is the first step to making the move. You should check the key public transport links and parking availability to ensure the location is easily accessible for both your team and clients. Take a look at what amenities are nearby, your team will appreciate if there are coffee shops, gyms, banks or restaurants close at hand. The key to finding the perfect location is to shop around. Most cities will have a wide range of options to suit the needs of your team. If you’re relocating your business check out our Glandore locations in DublinBelfast and most recently Cork.

Cost

Price is the main factor when looking for a new office space. Your team will be using this office every day so you need to find something that is within budget and that you can be happy with in the long term. Always double check what you are getting for your money and ensure you can afford both the rent and a deposit, while making note of any potential extra costs like parking, maintenance, or even a separate internet network.

Size

Both price and location will influence the size of office space you choose. Other factors to consider are how many employees you have on board, along with who will need bigger desks, monitor space, private offices or extra storage. Maybe your team require meeting rooms where you can liaise with clients, rest and relaxation spaces for downtime, or places where they can enjoy their lunch indoors or outdoors.

Facilities and perks

Modern office spaces commonly include great perks and facilities. Before jumping on board why not ask your sales contact or landlord what your team can expect when they move into the building. There might be great coffee on site or useful conference rooms that you have access to. Other extras might include complimentary showers, a gym, club rooms, private phone booths or even onsite classes like yoga, skills development, or networking luncheons and events. Internet access that has been installed already or an in-house IT team are always a great perk too; these will save you time and money and will allow you to move into your new space stress free and without any major disruption to your productivity.

At Glandore, we have a culture of caring for the people working in our office space and we have created a working environment that encourages collaboration and innovation.
