5 Booze-free Activities to do in January
Looking for booze-free things to do this January?
If you are taking on Dry January, there is no need to sit in like a hermit for the whole month of January just to avoid being around alcohol. There is a world of amazing things to do that don’t involve alcohol and you only need a little bit of inspiration to make great plans with friends this weekend. Here is our take on 5 booze free things to do this month.
Scope out a Music or Comedy Gig
See if any of your favourite bands are in town or scope out some free gigs. There are so many amazing venues that play live jazz or other genres of live music. There is so much talent to be heard and all easily accessible. Doyles pub runs a weekly event called ‘Ruby Sessions’ where a mix of Irish artists share their music in an intimate setting and donate the proceeds to The Simon Community. The Laughter Lounge is also a great shout. They have different themes on every Thursday, Friday and Saturday including Best of Irish where they pick their favourite Irish comedians and pop them into one epic show!
Unique Cinema Experience
Get a truly unique cinema experience with cosy seats and table service in the beautifully restored Stella Theatre. This is truly an iconic cinematic landmark in central Dublin. The cinema itself has been sympathetically restored to reflect the glamour and glitz of the 1920’s for a new generation of movie-goers. Check their website to see what new releases they are screening or if you fancy a golden oldie, they’ve got you covered too.
Enjoy a Scenic Cycle in Phoenix Park
Phoenix Park in Dublin is one of Europe’s biggest city parks. More than 350 years old, it is home to Dublin zoo, the Victorian People’s Flower Gardens and the official residence of the President of Ireland. Why not grab your bike, rent one in the park or purchase a three day membership for Dublin Bikes and get to see more of this incredible park. Make sure to stop by and take in all wildlife and nature, and see if you can spot the famous Phoenix Park deer.

Whether it is Howth Head, The Wicklow Way, Ticknock or Cliffs of Moher the list is almost endless. It is a very enjoyable way to get fitter and healthier as the year begins.
If you are already a dedicated hiker and you want to up your game and try something new, why not sign up for the ‘Feel the Burren’ Race in Co Clare. recorded and presented by Hector for RTE.
