3 festive Belfast activities to enjoy over Christmas

Belfast

Many CEOs and professionals from all areas of business list taking time off as an essential to boosting and maintaining productivity. Despite its benefits, many of us find it difficult to step away from the office. The festive season offers a perfect chance to enjoy time away from the office and get ready for the New Year ahead.

To help you unwind we have put together a list of our top three festive activities you can enjoy in Belfast this year.

Try your hand at ice-skating

There is only one time of year when you can pop on some skates and test out your balance skills and that is Winter time. Ice-skating rinks pop up around Belfast at this time of year giving you the perfect destination to enjoy the festive period.

Dundonald International Ice Bowl is situated just outside Belfast and is Northern Ireland’s only public Olympic size ice rink. Sessions are available seven days a week making it a perfect day out with family or friends.

Enjoy a night at a pantomime

What better way to hang onto your festive spirit in the days following Christmas then by going to a pantomime? Most pantomimes run into January, with many extending their runs, meaning you have no excuse not to head along.

Belfast always hosts a number of renowned pantomimes over the Christmas period. This year one of the stand out shows has been Peter Pan in the Belfast Grand Opera House. The show runs until 14 January and has a number of well known faces in its cast. Other performances on offer include Rapunzel at the Belfast Waterfront and Aladdin at the SSE Arena.

Venture outside the city

Although Belfast is a hive of activity over Christmas it can also be nice to get out of the city for a while. The lights, shopping and constant bustle can prove to be too much at times. Getting away from it all can help you relax over the Christmas break.

We are lucky in Belfast as we are never too far from nature. Beaches, mountains, surround the city. Why not wrap up warm and head out to one of the many nature walks the countryside has to offer? Cave Hill County Park and the Bog Meadows Nature Reserve are within easy reach.

This not only gets you away from the hustle and bustle of city life, it also allows you time to decompress and relax. This time is instrumental in recharging your batteries and getting yourself ready for the busy year ahead.
