Five Minute Focus On: Yoav Arkin, ECVA
Tell us about ECVA
We manufacture and distribute parts for trucks, specifically parts that go on curtainsiders trucks and load restraint straps that are used to tie down goods inside vehicles. Europe is our biggest market as 77% of all goods in Europe are moved by road transport – that’s a lot of things that need strapping down! Our main factory is based in the UK where we have a 10,000 square foot warehouse/production facility which produces about 30,000 straps per week.
What is your role in the company?
As joint owner my role is varied but my main focus is looking after our key customers, managing our sales team and the monthly purchasing in Asia of the 300,000 parts that we need for the business.
Tell us something about ECVA that we may not know
As well as Europe, we are active in many other countries around the world including USA, Canada, Australia, Israel and Venezuela and have recently started doing business in New Zealand.
What’s next for ECVA?
With the uncertainty of Brexit and of what the implications will be for trade between the UK and Europe, we have recently set up ECVA Ireland and are looking at the possibility of starting a new production facility in mainland Europe.
What do you like about working in Dublin
For me Dublin is the perfect size for a city. I find that big cities can be a bit overwhelming at times, but Dublin seems to have the right balance of letting you retain some anonymity whilst still allowing you to feel like you are part of the city.
What do you like about being a Glandore Member?
The location, the professionalism of the staff along with the first class facilities. Having used some other shared office space in Dublin, Glandore really is the best that I have experienced.
Friday nights in or Friday nights out?
With two small kids at home my life has definitely changed from Friday nights out to Friday nights in.
